From the terminal building to the aircraft
Each airport provides different transport facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, depending on the local circumstances. You may have to change wheelchairs when transferring from the terminal building to the aircraft itself.
Hand baggage
We recommend that you keep your hand baggage as light as possible so you can transport it yourself. Your hand baggage may not be larger than 55x40x23 cm or weigh more than 8 kg.

Do you have to take any medication during the flight? If so, please make sure that you carry it with you in your hand baggage - and please observe the hand baggage regulations.
Choice of seat
On Austrian Airlines flights, passengers with restricted mobility or impaired sensory perception can choose between an aisle seat or a window seat in the respective booking class. The exception to this are emergency exit rows and/or seats that may not be given to passengers with physical and/or sensory disabilities for safety reasons.
Disabled facilities on board
Our longhaul fleet of Boeing 777, Boeing 767 and Airbus aircraft are equipped with disabled-access toilets.

In addition, our Boeing 777 and Boeing 767 aircraft have an on-board wheelchair to help you get to and from the toilet.
How can our cabin crew assist you during the flight?
Once on board you will be met by our cabin crew, who will do everything they can to help:
  • Assisting with stowage and retrieval of hand luggage.
  • Assisting you on the way to and from the toilet.
  • Describing the food and its arrangment on the tray to blind and partially sighted passengers.

Our cabin crew are not permitted to do the following:

  • Assist disabled passengers in the toilet.
  • Lift, carry or feed disabled passengers.
  • Administer medication.
