Safe Travel for your Child older than 5 years
|
|
|
The parents or guardians will need to…
- book the flight and purchase any necessary travel documents (passport, visa for the destination country if necessary, travel insurance, etc.);
- provide us with the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the adults bringing the child to the airport/collecting the child from the airport when making the booking;
- pay the fare together with a supervision charge per child travelling alone and flight.
Please mind that in case of code share flights the operating carrier's rule
is applicable.
- fill in the Handling Advice form, print three copies and sign them.
- please meet us directly at the "special assistance" counter 56 and 57 at the check-in zone in terminal 1 at Vienna Airport. Those counters are designated check-in zones for children who are travelling alone.
- remain at the airport until the child’s flight has actually taken off!
Supervision charge per child travelling alone and flight (oneway):
Please mind that it is not possible to book a flight for children travelling alone online. Please contact our Customer Service Center at

Your child travelling alone...
- will be given a small travel pouch for all essential travel documents, which should be carried easily visible throughout the flight;
- will be collected directly from the check-in counter by an Austrian Airlines staff member and escorted onto the aircraft; at Vienna-Airport, should you wish, the child can be accompanied directly to the boarding gate, from where it can be escorted onto the aircraft by a staff member;
- will be cared for by our flight attendants in a manner that is friendly, attentive and above all suitable for children;
- will be able to choose from a special children’s menu when on board;
- will be collected by a supervisory member of staff upon arrival at the destination airport and escorted to the exit, where the child will be picked up by the guardian you have named at the time of booking; please note the person collecting the child will be required to identify him-/herself (by means of a personal ID card or similar).

Procedure in case of unforeseen events
|
|
|
- Should the flight be delayed, Austrian Airlines staff members will look after your child continuously.
- Should the flight be cancelled or subjected to a long delay, the parents will be contacted and a decision is taken in agreement with them as how to proceed.
- Should your child not be collected on time at the destination airport, the child will be placed under the supervision of a staff member until the person collecting the child has arrived; in case of an extended delay, the person collecting the child will be contacted; should they fail to appear, the parents of the child will be informed.

SafeTravel for your Child under 5 years of age

|
Your child is travelling alone and is aged between 3 months and 5 years? No problem! Please inform the reservation office in due time, at least 72 hours before departure. The Austrian Airlines Group provides an escorting person for the whole journey against fee which depends on the length of journey.
