Safety Standards

Austrian arrows

The first motorised flight was made by the Wright Brothers in the small town of Kitty Hawk almost 100 years ago. It caused a sensation – even if it was only a short “jump” a few metres above the ground – and was to change the course of history. Today, a century later, flying has become the safest of all modes of transport. There’s still a great deal in that old saying: “The most dangerous thing about flying is the drive to the airport first!”

Austrian arrows handles some 50,000 flights every year throughout Europe, and has not had a single accident since its founding. This has only been the case because Tyrolean observes and controls the very highest standards in all areas related to safety. The task of Flight Safety is to maintain established safety standards on an ongoing basis, recognise trends that may be relevant to safety in future, and define measures to correct potential problems. Since the indicators and disruptive factors change all the time, the overall concept also needs to be modified permanently.

Such disruptive factors can include technical innovations such as the use of electronic equipment by passengers. To allow the improvements in quality so prized by our customers, we implement extensive tests to examine overall concepts, reach the safety standards laid down and adapt those standards in certain areas.

If you have any concrete questions on flight safety, either at Austrian arrows or in general, please contact Capt. Wolfgang Stremnitzer directly at the Department Safety & Security, Austrian arrows.
