The majority of flights arriving from countries outside the ‘Schengen’ zone come in at the A Gates or the Bus Gates. Flights from Schengen countries normally arrive at the C Gates or the Bus Gates. If you are arriving from a Schengen country and travelling onto another Schengen country – from Germany to Italy via Vienna, for example – you do not need to pass through passport control. Similarly, if you are travelling from a non-Schengen country to a non-Schengen country via Vienna, you will (normally) stay in the transit area at the A Gates. You will need a maximum of approximately 15 minutes to travel between the Gates, not including passport control.
If you have booked a connecting flight, you will normally receive your boarding card at the time of check-in at your departure airport. Should you not have been given a boarding card, however, please go directly to your onward flight gate after your arrival in Vienna and check in there. Austrian Airlines employees will be happy to help you at any time upon your arrival at the airport.
