Since October 08 to Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia

 

Riyadh

With around 4.1 million inhabitants, the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh is the largest city in the country. Historically, the originally oasis Riyadh is a very important stopping-off point in the Arabian world, particularly for pilgrims on the way to Islam’s most important holy cities, Mecca and Medina. Riyadh has been the site of the main palace of the Saudi Royal Family since 1824.

Jeddah

With around 2.8 million inhabitants, the city of Jeddah on the Red Sea is the country’s most important export point for oil and oil-based products. The city is approximately 300 years old and the main starting-point for pilgrimages to Mecca. Since 1947 Jeddah has undergone massive development. The dimensions of Jeddah today can best be appreciated from the ‘Corniche’, or main thoroughfare, which is lined by hotels and palaces and winds its way along the Red Sea coast for more than 60 kilometres.

Change in Flight Plan as of 01. May 2009: Vienna to Jeddah via Riyadh 

As of May 1st, 2009 Austrian Airlines will keep its 3 weekly flights to Riyadh with a continuing service to Jeddah. The current direct flights to Jeddah will be suspended as of May 1st, 2009. Passengers currently booked on OS 897 VIE-RUH and OS 898 RUH-VIE will be automatically rebooked. Our guests can stay on board during the 45 minutes stop in Riyadh.

Please keep in mind we still offer our remarkable Austrian Premium Service on flights to Riyadh and Jeddah.

Austrian expands network into Middle East: Premium Service on Amman route from May 2009

The Austrian Airlines Group continues to expand its route network into the Middle East. From May 2009 onwards, the company will incorporate another destination into its regional flight schedule, with three new flights a week to Amman, capital of the Kingdom of Jordan. Flights on the new route will operate using an Airbus A320 featuring the Austrian Premium Service, enabling guests to enjoy a unique mix of Austrian hospitality and Oriental flair.
