The carriers of the Austrian Airlines Group are justifiably proud of their internationally renowned safety record.

Austrian Airlines are very proud to present a worldwide outstanding safety record. Since the beginning of their jet operation in 1963, Austrian Airlines have not experienced any aircraft accident. In these 40 years, around 100 million passengers have been transported to their destination safely.

Austrian Airlines has always been, and remains, committed to using the most modern aircraft available. The average age of the fleet is currently 6.4 years, firmly established in the international premier league (the average age of European airlines is over eight years, while in the USA it is over twelve years).ree times now, Austrian Airlines has been the first airline in the world to order new types of aircraft, and it is always amongst the first customers for new jets.

One example of this is the fact that Austrian Airlines is the first European airline to use the Airbus A330-200.

The training and further training of our personnel in Flight Operations and Technology and the maintenance of our aircraft are carried out under strict observance of all relevant international and Austrian norms and regulations. All our pilots are selected subject to the very strictest criteria, and rigorous examinations are held on a quarterly basis to test the health and technical expertise of all pilots.

Due to the faultless and precise maintenance of our jets, all the ‘used aircraft’ from the Austrian Airlines fleet to date have been sold after between 10 and 15 years at an appropriate accounting profit, continuing to serve with, amongst others, a number of airlines in the USA.
