Environmental protection is part and parcel of the corporate objectives of Austrian Airlines. In the aviation sector, it is unavoidable for resources to be consumed and emissions produced. For this reason, and taking safety restrictions into consideration, we have been anxious for a number of years to minimise the impact of our activities on the environment. Austrian’s mix of policies has enabled us to record a range of successes in this regard.
The company has succeeded in cutting the rate of increase of emissions produced by our production growth, and keeping this figure low. It has also reduced residual waste volumes by over 50% in recent years, produced energy saving concepts and steadily renewed its fleet. This reduces emissions and noise pollution further still.
